Her prior studies include Comparative Literature and Gender studies at the University of Iceland. Gr\u00e9ta has worked professionally in the performing arts field since 2016, as a dramaturg and an artistic advisor and has directed works in most performing arts institutions in Iceland and independently as a founding member and producer of the company Stertabenda (eng: Perplex). Recent directing works are G\u00f3\u00f0an daginn, faggi (Good morning, faggi) at The National Theatre of Iceland, the drag-opera  Die Sch\u00f6ne M\u00fcllerin at Tjarnarb\u00ed\u00f3, B\u00e6ng! by Marius Von Mayenburg at Reykjav\u00edk City Theatre and Insomnia by Amalie Olesen at The National Theatre. She will direct And Bj\u00f6rk of course by \u00deorvaldur \u00deorsteinsson at Akureyri Theatre in the season 23-24. Gr\u00e9ta was awarded Newcomer of the year at Gr\u00edman, the Icelandic Performing Arts Awards in 2017, nominated Director of the year for Stertabenda that same year and again for B\u00e6ng! in 2019. In 2020-2023 Gr\u00e9ta was the artistic director of \u00dej\u00f3\u00f0leikh\u00faskjallarinn and Lofti\u00f0 at The National Theatre of Iceland, where she emphasized proactive programming  for access and inclusion of marginalized people and performing art forms.
