This is a great cause for celebration, as the Iceland University of the Arts has long advocated for abolishing school fees and the changes will take effect from autumn 2024. When it comes down to it, the school's students will then only pay registration fees comparable to those at the public universities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eThis is a major turning point in the school's history and the most important equality issue in terms of students\u201c access to higher education in the arts in this country\u201e, says Krist\u00edn Eysteinsd\u00f3ttir, rector of the Iceland University of the Arts. \u201cWe have long pointed out the inequality of learning in the arts is subject to conditions of tuition fees beyond studying in other university subjects. This includes more equal opportunities for access to art education regardless of the economy, which is a matter of great celebration.
