IUA students and staff are entitled to borrowing privileges free of charge. Other users may become borrowers upon presentation of valid identification and payment of an annual fee in accordance with the library 's fee schedule. \nGraduates are granted free borrowing privileges for one year after graduation. Borrowing privileges may be renewed provided that the borrower has no outstanding debts or charges owed to the library. \n\nBorrowers with significantly overdue items or unpaid fees may lose their borrowing privileges and the right to renew borrowed materials until all outstanding matters have been resolved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Borrower's Liability<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The borrower is fully responsible for all materials borrowed on their account.<\/li>\n<li>If borrowed material is lost or damaged, the library reserves the right to charge compensation or replacement costs.<\/li>\n<li>Borrowers are kindly requested to respond promptly to notices regarding overdue library materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Loan periods<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Books 14 days<\/li>\n<li>Sheet music and playscripts 30 days<\/li>\n<li>Journals and magazine 3 days<\/li>\n<li>Videos are for in-library use only<\/li>\n<li>Course reserve materials are loaned for 3 or 7 days<\/li>\n<li>Under special circumstances, such as teaching purposes, certain reference works may be borrowed on a short-term basis (1-3 days) by prior arrangement. Encyclopedias, dictionaries, guidebooks, and other reference materials are not available for loan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Loan renewals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Loans may be renewed provided that no other borrower has placed a hold on the item.<\/li>\n<li>Borrowers may renew their loans twice through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leitir.is\/\">Leitir.is<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Items on hold<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Borrowers may place holds on material themselves through Leitir.is or request that an item currently on loan be reserved for them. The borrower will be notified when the item is available for collection. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leitir.is\/\">Leitir.is<\/a> or requested that a publication that is on loan be reserved for them.
