The conference is held in collaboration with the Iceland Academy of the Arts and takes place in the school's premises in Stakkahl\u00ed\u00f0.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"col-lg-12\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The conference was last held in Iceland in 2015, but it is held every other year and travels between the Nordic countries. This is a unique opportunity in Iceland to listen to numerous presentations by academics and artists in dance research, which about 80 foreign visitors have announced their arrival.<\/p>\n<p>The title of this year's conference is <strong>Center &amp; Periphery: Dance, Identity &amp; the Politics of Place<\/strong>, and draws inspiration from Iceland's unique geographical position From one perspective, it could be said that Iceland is on the edge in a Nordic context, but if the perspective is expanded, it can be said that this volcanic island lies between continents, centered on plate boundaries. This ideological tension between center and periphery serves as a starting point to explore how research in dance deals with questions of hierarchy, image, accessibility, traditions and belonging in a historical, social and artistic context.<\/p>\n<p>The main speakers are Karen Arnfred Vedel, associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, Lov\u00edsa \u00d3sk Gunnarsd\u00f3ttir, artistic director of the Icelandic Dance Group, and Saul Garcia-Lopez, aka La Saula, professor at the Norwegian Drama School in Frederikstad, and artistic director of La Pocha Nostra.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can
