At the same time that arts and culture create jobs and improve society, the overall reduction of resources between the years 2024 and 2025 in the field of culture is 365.4 million ISK in next year's budget proposal. If this development becomes a reality, it will have negative consequences on the working environment of artists permanently. Culture and the arts are social multipliers and contribute to improved social welfare, increase cohesion, quality of life and happiness. The art university educates artists of the future, and therefore it is very important that the government enforces the decisions that the school will come under one roof as soon as possible. A dynamic art university in a professional facility under one roof will translate many times into the cultural life of the people for the foreseeable future.

Program

15:00 Jóna Hlíf Halldórsdóttir, president of the Association of Icelandic Artists, gives an opening address

15:10 Kristín Eysteinsdóttir, rector of the Iceland University of the Arts

3:20 pm to 5:00 pm Panel discussion

The meeting is open to everyone and will be streamed on Vísir.is

Please register participation here

Facebook event here

[120,116,121,109,122,124,123
["post-17454","events","type-events","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","departmens_cat-arkitekturdeild","departmens_cat-honnunardeild","departmens_cat-kvikmyndalistadeild","departmens_cat-listkennsludeild","departmens_cat-myndlistardeild","departmens_cat-svidslistadeild","departmens_cat-tonlistardeild
["GET
