THG architects in collaboration with the Iceland Academy of the Arts and the Icelandic Association of Architects are inviting you to an event at the Academy of the Arts premises in Stakkahlíð 1 on October 23rd to celebrate THG's 30th anniversary.

THG Architects works in the fields of architecture, design and project management. The company is a leader in the field of architecture in Iceland and with this event wants to open up further discussion about architecture in Iceland by inviting guests to the country to present their ideas and designs along with an open discussion about architecture.

The schedule is as follows:

•  16:00 PM – The house opens
•  17:00 – Lecture begins
•  18:00 – Panel and Q&A
•  18.30 – Reception, drinks and refreshments

The concept interdisciplinary is used to describe practices that span many design disciplines, from architecture to interior design, product and furniture design, graphic design, fashion design and even filmmaking. Our work began and developed from the design of small objects, and over time we have moved to larger projects in the fields of architecture and planning. “Interdisciplinary” is often presented as a new buzzword or trend in the design professions, but the basic principles were already formulated by the Bauhaus and Art Nouveau movements. Often these movements are quickly associated with a specific “style”, but we forget that they represented a larger shared ambition – a holistic design vision where the management of the built environment extended from the big picture down to the smallest details.

Lyndon Neri
Founder and Partner, Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Lyndon received his Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and his BA in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley.

Rossana Hu
Founder and Co-Owner, Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, Chair and Miller Professor in the Department of Architecture, Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania. Rossana holds a Master of Architecture and Urban Planning from Princeton University and a BA in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley with a minor in Music.

Lyndon Neri, Hon. FAIA, and Rossana Hu are the founders and co-owners of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. Whether it’s objects of everyday use or shelter, they strive to approach design in a way that draws from multiple disciplines to create experiences that enrich modern life while maintaining a critical connection to shared history.

In addition to their design work, Lyndon and Rossana have dedicated themselves to architectural education and have lectured around the world at various universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Yale School of Architecture, and others. Rossana was appointed Chair of the Department of Architecture at Tongji University in 2021 and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania starting in the spring of 2024. Lyndon was a visiting professor at the Department of Architecture at Princeton University in the spring of 2024 and 2025.

Lyndon and Rossana are also the founders of Design Republic in Shanghai since 2004, a design platform that combines retail, design and cultural events, as well as education.

THG Architects works in the fields of architecture, design, and project management. The company is a leader in the field of architecture in Iceland, and with this event it seeks to open up further discussion on architecture by inviting international guests to present their ideas and designs, alongside an open dialogue on architecture.

Interdisciplinary is a term that is used to describe practices that operate across design fields ranging from architecture to interior, product, furniture, graphic and fashion design, and even film. Our practice started out and grew from the design of small objects and over time we have transitioned into larger scales of architecture and master planning. "Interdisciplinary" is often recast as a new buzzword or trend in the design profession, but the basic tenets were established by the Bauhaus and Art Nouveau movements. Often associated too quickly with a particular "style", we forget that these movements represent a larger collective ambition - a total design vision through means of controlling built environments from the large gestalt down to the smallest details.

Lyndon Neri, Hon. FAIA, and Rossana Hu are Founding Partners of Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. Whether through objects of intimate daily use or vessels of habitation, they seek an approach to design that draws from multiple disciplines to provide experiences that enrich contemporary life while still keeping a critical linkage to a collective history.

Alongside their design practice, Lyndon and Rossana have been deeply committed to architectural education and have lectured across the globe in various universities and professional forums, including University of California, Berkeley, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Yale School of Architecture and others. Rossana was appointed as Chair of the Department of Architecture at Tongji University in 2021 and Chair of the Department of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania Weitzman School of Design, effective spring semester 2024. Lyndon was appointed as Visiting Faculty at Princeton University School of Architecture for the spring semesters of 2024 and 2025.

Lyndon and Rossana are also Founding Partners of Design Republic in Shanghai since 2004, a design platform incorporating a retail concept, design and cultural exhibitions, and education.
