In my graduation project I attempt to deform the canvas and create movement through textures and colors. I am driven by the simultaneous conflict and interplay of colors. I use acrylics on linen because I am interested in the effect of the synthetic nature of the paint on organic material. The work is essentially an ongoing material-based research. At times, I mix so much water into the paint that it eventually bleeds off the canvas onto the floor, and splashes onto the walls, looking like a river of paint on my studio floor and walls. To some of the paintings I added bits and pieces of other paintings. Chaotic brush strokes compel the viewer’s vision to move. I am drawn to movement, because we never stop moving. Everything is in flux and nothing stays still.
