Threatened security is disempowering. Having a safe haven is not a given, but it is essential. “Viðdvöl” is a project that aims to create empowering architecture that supports and surrounds women who have experienced domestic violence. The village is composed of interconnected circles, allowing for flow between and within structures.

Within the circle you are not stuck, there are no dead ends, you are not cornered – here there are many paths, smooth – without obstacles and you choose which path to take towards the self you have lost. Here in the healing nature by the powerful Ölfusá river, you who are in need can stay until you need it no more.
