Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The student possesses knowledge within the field of design. This implies that the student:

  • has knowledge of the theoretical issues and debates in design,
  • has acquired knowledge through research and artistic practice,
  • can present arguments for his decision making in the solution of projects,
  • has knowledge of ideas and concepts related to design and main movements, theories, methods and works in the field of design,
  • has knowledge of different research methods in the field of design,
  • has knowledge of ethics and an understanding of designers’ ethical responsibility.

Skills

The student is able to use the methods and procedures of design. This implies that the student:

  • has adopted working methods that are effective in design work,
  • is proficient in analysing information and communicating this through different mediums,
  • can understand and engage with complex and professional design issues,
  • can apply his knowledge and understanding to engage with varied design issues,
  • has mastered and can apply the relevant methods, technology and software in the conceptualisation, development, presentation, publication and implementation of works and subjects,
  • can obtain, analyse and assess data in the process of research and design,
  • demonstrates originality in practice, uses intuition and imagination in design work,
  • can apply his knowledge and understanding of design and related disciplines to engage with different circumstances and previously unknown problems which may occur in the design process,
  • can make independent decisions on the conceptualisation, development and implementation of projects and present an argument for these on professional grounds,
  • has knowledge and intuition to engage with complex subjects, to integrate knowledge and to communicate this through design,
  • can develop and apply research methods in a design process,
  • knows how to read his own work and that of others on professional grounds and reach independent and reasoned conclusions.

Competences

The student is able to utilise her/his knowledge and proficiency for work and/or for further studies. This implies that the student:

  • has developed the necessary learning capabilities and independence in design to engage in further study,
  • can initiate and manage projects, actively participate in and lead collaboration and shoulder responsibility for his own work and that of others,
  • has developed the necessary learning capabilities and independence in design to engage in further study,
  • can initiate and manage projects, actively participate in and lead collaboration and shoulder responsibility for his own work and that of others,
  • is able to present complex subjects in design and can communicate these in professional and reasoned conclusions in a public and a specialist forum,
  • has the ability to present and describe professional issues of design in speech and in writing in English,
  • can make independent, professional decisions and present arguments for these,
