Learning outcomes

Knowledge

By the end of the programme, students are familiar with the field of creative music communication. This entails that students should: 

Have a fundamental knowledge of the musician’s legal environment, including performers’ rights and copyright issues.  
Be familiar with the professional avenues open to them in the modern technological environment.
Be familiar with the music literature and music theory that apply to their field of specialisation.   
Be familiar with different styles and their relation to one another. 
Have knowledge and understanding of music history and its position in the present day. 
Be familiar with key genres and currents in music in a cultural and historical context.   
Be able to use their knowledge and understanding for artistic creation and scholarly work.  
Be familiar with the diversity of music, as well as its points of tangency with other artistic disciplines and with a diverse cultural environment.
Be able to support their opinions and decisions based on scholarly and artistic criteria.   
Be able to provide rationale for scholarly and/or practical solutions in the field. 
Be able to present and describe scholarly points and research findings verbally and in writing.  
Be familiar with the fundamentals of search engines and information technology.

Skills 

Be able to use their knowledge and understanding for artistic creation and interpretation.
Be able to analyse complex practical topics and be able to take and support decisions based on professional musical considerations. 
Be able to present an artistic idea, develop it, and deliver a completed work or project.
Have an understanding of various styles within the field and be able to apply appropriate methods and techniques in practice. 
Have acquired technical proficiency in their field. 
Have worked with appropriate styles and methodologies in their artistic discipline during their studies and be able to seek out further information and knowledge.
Be able to participate actively in collaborative artistic projects of various sizes, based on various criteria. 
Be able to work in a group on an egalitarian basis, take into consideration a variety of viewpoints, and listen respectfully to others.  
Be equally able to act as leader and as follower in working with an ensemble.    
Be able to express themselves in a clear and comprehensible way about their own artistic creation, interpretation, and working methods.
