Curriculum
The program offers:
- Technique classes, improvisation classes, body conditioning classes, choreography workshops and theory classes lead by a host of leading national and international dancers, choreographers, dramaturges and theoreticians.
- Support and guidance in developing their personal approach to movement and choreography
- Experience in taking an interdisciplinary approach
- A chance to develope a strong base in dance and performance theory
- A chance to develop their capabilities in writing critical reflections
- A direct access to the professional field, both in Iceland and abroad
- Skills and tools to start their career as dance artists
Aims of the programme:
- To develop the student´s personal approach to movement, methods, creative process, staging and production.
- To develop and expand the student´s movement vocabulary through rigorous training in different styles of contemporary techniques and improvisation
- To develop and expand the students´s creative practice through choreography and other methods
- To facilitate the students independent artistic making
- To create a dynamic and inspiring environment for developing each student’s individual approach
- To expand each student’s knowledge of the contemporary dance & performing arts field
- To support innovation within the national and international contemporary dance field
- To create a direct access to the professional field, both in Iceland and abroad
- To develop student´s skills and tools to start their career as dance artists
- To develop student´s skills and tools for discussing their practices, works and methods verbally and in writing
