The most environmentally friendly building is that which has already been built. This is why it is of great importance what is done when that building is no longer considered viable.

Today, there is more and more focus on critical decision-making in architecture when it comes to the choice of materials, lifespan and destruction. What opportunities do those buildings have that no longer meet the social or technical demands of today? What about those buildings that are already standing?

The aim of the eco-village is to increase the use of our hidden resource, that is the materials of those discontinued buildings, while considering an ever-changing environmental outlook towards a sustainable future.
