If I Forget

This project deals with the staging of the educational play If I Forget by the Danish playwright and actor Rikke Wolck, which premiered in Iceland at Vídalínskirkja in Garðabær on 12 April 2022.

The subject of the play is the dementia disease Alzheimer's and the effects it can have on individuals. If I Forget is a monologue about Regina diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Viewers get to observe how the disease gradually takes over, which is a process that can take 8-12 years. The play is about a real issue that every modern society struggles with and affects many families in the country.

The purpose of the implementation was twofold. On the one hand, to use the medium that the play is to educate and make people think about Alzheimer's disease and create a forum for discussion about it. However, the purpose of the project was to provide some clues as to whether the play can provide education about Alzheimer's disease.

There is a great need to inform the public better about diseases like this so that it will be possible to educate people better and promote more help for those diagnosed with the disease and even promote greater prevention in this area.
