Elín Gunnlaugsdóttir (b. 1965) studied composition at the Reykjavík College of Music from where she graduated in 1993. In 1998 she finished her post-graduate studies in composition from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague where she studied with Theo Loevendie and Diderik H. Wagenaar.
Elín Gunnlaugsdóttir's list of composition consists of chamber works and vocal pieces. She has composed for the CAPUT Chamber Ensemble, Camerarctica and Schola Cantorum as well as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Her compositions have been published and performed both in Iceland and abroad.
Elín Gunnlaugsdóttir has the for the last years focused on writing new music for children, e.g. musicals and children's operas (Björt í sumarhúsi. Englajól, Drekinn, Nú get ég).
