I wanted to think about sustainability in a larger context of the area, rather than just getting the eco village to have a positive impact on itself.

The eco-village is designed as a community built on top of  infrastructure that works alongside the sewage treatment plant for Selfoss, to promote the sustainability of the village and its environment.

Its function is to filter rainwater and fully utilize waste energy from low-grade geothermal hot water in a way that benefits the residents and reduces the load on the  sewage treatment plant, and allows for symbiosis between the  infrastructure, the eco-village, and its residents.
