English below,

Í ljósi mikillar fjölgunar staðfestra Covid19 smita undanfarna tvo daga, sem mörg hver hafa greinst í háskólastarfi, höfum við ákveðið að loka Listháskólanum í einn dag, þ.e.a.s. á morgun, föstudaginn 18. september. Starfsemi skólans verður með sama hætti og fyrirhugað var strax næstkomandi mánudag 21. september að öllu óbreyttu.

Tilgangur lokunarinnar er tvíþættur:
  • að skapa svigrúm til fara yfir vandlega yfir sóttvarnaraðgerðir með tilliti til frekari úrbóta,
  • að sjá hvort smitum heldur áfram að fjölga yfir helgina og þá jafnframt hver viðbrögð sóttvarnaryfirvalda verða.
Meginmarkmið okkar með öllum þeim aðgerðum sem við höfum gripið til nú á haustönninn er ávalt hið sama; að halda kennslu áfram á öllum þeim sviðum sem okkur er kleift með sem eðlilegustum hætti. Við bindum vonir við að sá tími sem við höfum á morgun til frekari skipulags og styrkingar sóttvarna, muni þegar til lengdar lætur koma okkur til góða og minnka líkur á því að við verðum að hverfa aftur alfarið til fjarkennslu.

Ég vil ítreka það að á meðan þetta ástand ríkir og þar til annað hefur verið tekið fram eiga engir óviðkomandi gestir aðgengi að byggingum eða aðstöðu háskólans. Allir, bæði starfsmenn og nemendur, eiga einungis að halda sig innan þeirra sóttvarnarhólfa sem þeir vinna í, nema annað sé tekið sérstaklega fram.

Allir sem finna fyrir flensulíkum einkennum eiga vitaskuld að vera heima.

Að lokum vil ég hvetja ykkur öll til að láta skynsemina ráða í öllum ykkar gjörðum á meðan Covid19 smit er að greinast svo víða í samfélaginu. Við eigum mjög mikið undir því að allir, ekki síst nemendur sem eru uppistaðan í skólastarfinu, sýni ábyrgð í sínum sóttvörnum innan háskólans sem utan.

Með góðri kveðju til ykkar allra,

Fríða Björk Ingvarsdóttir,
rektor.

In light of latest developments regarding the Covid19 pandemic, with increasing numbers of infections in the capital area, many of which have been discovered in the university sector, we have decided to close the IUA for one day, tomorrow, Friday, September18th. On Monday, 21st of September the IUA will be open again and operating according to plan unless we are instructed to do otherwise.

The aim of tomorrow's one day closure is twofold:
  • To create leeway for improving our preventive measures within the university,
  • and to monitor the development in society at large over the weekend, as well as directions from health authorities.

Our main goal with all our preventive actions this term remains the same; to keep the university operating as close to normal as possible in those difficult times. We hope that taking time tomorrow to improve our strategy even further will work to our advantage in the long run.

I would like to stress the fact that for the time being and until further notice, no unauthorised guests have access to our buildings. Everyone, both staff and students, are to stay within their respective zones unless they have been informed otherwise.

If anyone has flu-like symptoms, they should, of course, stay at home.

Finally, I would like to encourage you all to be particularly cautious in all your conduct while the infections are on the rise around us. As a community, we all need to rely on each other's responsible behaviour for the benefit of the whole. This is particularly important in the case of students, who are the bulk of the community working at the IUA.

With warm regards to you all,

Fríða Björk Ingvarsdóttir,
rector.
