Rúðu fyrir rúðu, lykkju fyrir lykkju
I look at a photograph and draw up a pattern, a pattern that looks like the photo. White cells equal knit stitches on the right side and purl stitches on the wrong side. Black cells equal purl stitches on the right side and knit stitches on the wrong.
If I simplify the pattern and say white cells are knit stitches and black cells are purl stitches, a new, more complex image appears, incomprehensible on its own.
However if I follow the pattern, from right to left and left to right, cell by cell, stitch by stitch, the original image will reappear.
