UPSIDEDOME - An exhibition in the Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum

A collaboration between the National Gallery of Iceland, Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum and MA students in Fine Art at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts and Art History & Theory at the University of Iceland.

The project enables MA students in Fine Art at the Icelandic Academy of Art to make an artwork to be exhibited in the Sigurjón Ólafsson Museum in collaboration with student curators at the department of Art History & Theory at the University of Iceland. The title of the exhibition is HVOLFSPEGILL / UPSIDEDOME and the theme is designed to include eleven artists into the space where Sigurjón Ólafsson worked and where his works are now on display. The focus is the context of the museum and the current exhibition Assemblage. The artworks, working process and methods of Sigurjón Ólafsson together with the museum architecture, its history and environment will direct the students approach to artworks that will be exhibited together with those of Sigurjón Ólafsson. The project is directed by Bryndís Snæbjörnsdóttir Professor in Fine Art at the Icelandic Art Academy and Hlynur Helgason Lecturer in Art History and Theory at the University of Iceland.

The exhibition is open from 2nd to 11th of December. Opening hours of the museum: 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th and 11th of December from 14.00 – 17.00.
