Call for applications for Adjunct in Theory at Department of Design and Architecture at the Iceland Academy of the Arts from August 1st 2014

Gert er ráð fyrir að ráðning taki gildi frá og með 1. ágúst næstkomandi til eins árs með möguleika á framlengingu á samningi.

Starfið felur m.a. í sér kennslu í akademískum vinnubrögðum og ritgerðarskrifum auk kennslu á sérsviði umsækjenda.
Áhersla er á kennslu í meistaranámi í hönnun. Meistaranám í hönnun er alþjóðlegt nám og kennt á ensku.
Æskilegt er að umsækjandi hafi reynslu af kennslu og rannsóknum. Mikilvægt er að umsækjandi búi yfir þekkingu og reynslu af þverfaglegu starfi og hafi áhuga á samþættingu fræða og listsköpunar. 

Hæfniskröfur:

  • Meistarapróf á sviði hönnunar, arkitektúrs, hugvísinda eða félagsvísinda.
  • Reynsla af kennslu og rannsóknum.
  • Góður skilningur á tengslum akademísks og faglegs starfs, rannsókna og kennslu.

Aðjúnkt tekur þátt í uppbyggingar og stefnumótandi starfi sem fer fram
við deildina í samstarfi við aðra starfsmenn deildarinnar og
deildarforseta. Við ráðningu í stöðuna verður m.a. tekið tillit til þess
hvaða færni umsækjandi hafi til samstarfs og hæfni til frumkvæðis í
starfi.

Umsókn skal fylgja yfirlit yfir námsferil og störf umsækjanda, auk ritaskrár. Umsækjandi skal gera grein fyrir kennslustörfum sínum og rannsóknum og jafnframt veita upplýsingar um önnur störf sem hann hefur gegnt, þ.m.t. félags- og stjórnunarstörf. Afrit af prófskírteinum og öðrum staðfestingum varðandi menntun skulu fylgja umsókn.

Umsóknir skulu merktar  deildarforseta og skal skila þeim ásamt fylgigögnum til Listaháskóla Íslands, Þverholti 11, 105 Reykjavík, eigi síðar en mánudaginn 16. júní. Adjunct in Theory at the Department of Design and Architecture

The Iceland Academy of the Arts calls for applications for the position of Adjunct in Theory at the Department of Design and Architecture. This is a 50-80% position.

Employment should take effect from 1st of August 2014. The position offers a one-year contract with a possibility of extension.

The position involves teaching academic procedures and essay writing, in addition to lecturing in the appointed’s field of speciality. Emphasis is on lecturing within the Masters Programme in design. MA Design is an international programme and the language of instruction is English.

Applicants need to have some experience of teaching and research. It is also desired that they possess knowledge and experience of inter-disciplinary work, and should have an interest in the intergration of theory and artistic practice.

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in the field of design, architecture, humanities, or the social sciences.
  • Experience of teaching and research.
  • Good grasp of the relation between theory and artistic practice, research and teaching.

The adjunct partakes in structural and policy making work of the Department in collaboration with other members of staff and the Dean. The applicants’ cooperative skills and initiative will weigh in on assessing qualifications for the post.

In addition, the applicant must provide information on previous lecturing experience, research, and other work, such as volunteering work and administration. Finally, copies of certificates and other diplomas regarding education must be provided.
