Orientation Day and Beginning of Studies
The Icelandic Art Academy is a haven of creative philosophies and methodologies within the academic field of arts.
Our students are devoted to artistic creation and disciplines under the guidance of professional artists and scholars, with whom they collaborate to develop a collective melting pot of different art forms.
The core values of the Academy’s activities are curiosity, understanding, and courage.
The school year will begin with the Orientation Day for new students on Monday 20 th of August.
It is important for students to attend as they will be provided with valuable information that will be helpful when adapting to a new environment.
The Orientation Day will begin with introductions in each department. Students shall go to their relevant departments to meet with deans, programme directors and obtain information about the studies.
After lunch, there will be an introduction for all students on provided services (the introduction will be both in Icelandic and English). The day will end with an opening ceremony for students and staff, which provides a great opportunity to mingle and get aquainted with people.

The Rector welcomes guests, an artist and a student will address students, and refreshments will be offered. Classes for new students will begin on Tuesday 21 d of August.
