On Thursday January 17th at 18:00, Bjarki Bragason lector at the Departmant of Fine Art, will open the exhibition THREE THOUSAND AND NINE YEARS at The Living Art Museum.

THREE THOUSAND AND NINE YEARS is a part of a ten year long process where Bjarki has dealt with his grandparent's yard as a starting point and a method for reflecting different contexts and explore who the mapping of changes takes place, to collect the object is as important to him as the object itself.

The exhibition focuses on diverse ecosystems that go through revolutions, back yard and a glacier are placed on the same level and we look at fractions of these systems all around us, placed on within the collision of the human and the geological.

Bjarki Bragason (b. 1983) studied Fine Art at the Iceland University of the Arts, Universität der Künste Berlin and recieved an MFA from California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles. He has participated in various group exhibitions and held solo shows in both in Iceland and abroad. Since 2016, Bjarki has held a position as a lector and Programme Director at the Department of Fine Art at the Iceland University of the Arts.
