Í rannsóknum sínum og skrifum hefur hún fengist við myndlist, arkitektúr, kvikmyndir, sýningargerð og sjónmenningarfræði síðustu áratuga með áherslu m.a. á greiningaraðferðir kynjafræðinnar. Á undaförnum árum hefur hún skrifað fjölda fræðigreina fyrir fagtímarit og ritið Robert Smithson: Learning From New Jersey and Elsewhere (MIT Press, 2003). Um þessar mundir vinnur hún að riti sem ber vinnutitilinn Playtime: Creativity, Community, and Publics in New York, 1940-1970. Ann Reynolds hefur hlotið viðurkenningar fyrir háskólakennslu, nú síðast College of Fine Arts Distinguished Teaching Award, 2006.
Ann Reynolds, flytur erindi í fyrirlestrarseríunni Umræðuþræðir í tengslum við sýningu Robert Smithson í Hafnarhúsi Listasafns Reykjavíkur fimmtudaginn 21. mars kl. 20.00. Fyrirlesturinn fer fram á ensku og er öllum opinn án endurgjalds.
Umræðuþræðir er samstarfsverkefni Listasafns Reykjavíkur, Kynningarmiðstöðvar íslenskrar myndlistar og myndlistardeildar Listaháskóla Íslands. Lagt er uppi með að skapa vettvang hérlendis fyrir alþjóðleg tengsl og umræður í fyrirlestraröð ár hvert. Þátttakendur í verkefninu eru virtir sýningarstjórar, fræði- og listamenn sem eiga merkan feril að baki á alþjóðlegum vettvangi. Aðalstyrktaraðili Umræðuþráða er Bandaríska sendiráðið á Íslandi ásamt stuðningi frá Franska sendiráðinu á Íslandi.
Ann Reynolds will be a special guest of the Department of Fine Arts Friday April 5th 2013. She is Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History and the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on U.S. and European art, architecture, and visual culture after 1930; feminist theory, gender, and sexuality studies; the historiography of exhibition practice; and film. Recent publications include Robert Smithson: Learning From New Jersey and Elsewhere (MIT Press, 2003); an essay on feminist publics circa 1970 for Witness to Her Art, Bard College; and several essays on Robert Smithson written in conjunction with his recent retrospective. She has received several teaching awards, most recently the College of Fine Arts Distinguished Teaching Award in 2006.
Ann Reynolds will give a open lecture at the Reykjavík Art Museum, Harbour house on Thursday April 4th at 8 p.m.
Under the title TALK Lecture & Visitor Series, Reykjavik Art Museum, Icelandic Art Center and the Icelandic Academy of the Arts are initiating a collaborative visitor program, offering a platform for continual professional-, international encounter to take place in Iceland. Comprising visits by ground-breaking figures in the visual arts, this program initiative will bring to Icelandic art community, as well as to the public at large, the burgeoning ideas and diverse practices that define the terms and shape the dialogue within the international contemporary art scene. Events will take place in English and are open to everyone, free of charge.
