Peradam

Mirrors, binoculars, steel, wood

Peradam, from the book Mount Analogue by René Daumal, is an object that is revealed only to those who seek it. “So perfectly transparent...that the inexperienced eye barely perceives it. But to any person who seeks it with sincerity and out of true need, it reveals itself.”

We see the world we seek. If we look up at the stars on a clear night, we see suns and planets in the darkness, and if we are looking for them, we can also see shapes and images that represent bears, chariots, or giants holding self-devouring snakes. When we look at the world, we see how it reveals itself to us and therein we see ourselves.
