In the right light, an unremarkable pipe projects a shadow onto the pavement that resembles a letter. In an instant, the shadow transforms into a phenomenon loaded with unexpected meaning. Someone lingers by and photographs the shadow. Imitation of an imitation. Then the photograph and the moment morph together, creating a new idea. Does this phenomenon hold more value if it is reminiscent of something else? The shadow is fleeting and uncertain. Ventures daily to take a stance. Transforms; bends, extends, expands and disappears. Depending on light and the perspective of the viewer. You are lucky if you find a shadow in the right light, congratulations, you have found a stance loaded with meaning! In Shadowstudy the shadow and our ideas surrounding the shadow are explored. Letterforms inspired by shadow-stances are taken and projected onto a light sensitive paper.
