Eye for an eye; word for word

„The term culture is used when knowledge is shared between generations and refers to all human behaviour that is learnt within own cultural group; rules on blood relationships, sexual behaviour, diet, communication with other human beings, habits and daily rituals, religion and religious ceremonies and last but not least, language. Thereby, culture is created as humans build tools and save them for later use and spread knowledge to coming generations with words and actions.“

Recently the artist has been researching the destructive effects of our patriarchal social systems, the effect it has had on us as human beings, as emotional beings as well intellectual beings, hurt our self image and esteem, damaged our earth. It has created a world where half of mankind is oppressed, and has been made to live in a lie. This doesn’t hurt just women, it hurt us both. It hurts us all.

We can do better.
We derserve better.

From October 1st to November 26th a series of 26 solo shows by 3rd year students in Fine Art will be taking place in Laugarnes.

Each week a solo exhibition will be opened at three different locations in Laugarnes: The Cube on 2nd floor, Navel in the middle of the building on first floor and Hulduland on the north side of the building on first floor.
