Sneiðmynd 2019

Sneiðmynd is a series of lectures in which members of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Design and Architecture showcase their research and artistic creativity, and discuss their contributions to the tuition provided at the faculty.
This coming spring will see lecturers on the MA course in Design and Architecture presenting their research and projects.

Research
Intensive research by lecturers at the Faculty of Design and Architecture is the cornerstone of skills creation, ideological renewal and artistic achievement, communicated to students through tuition and to the community at large by collaborating in a variety of projects in the domestic as well as the international arena.

MA Design
The MA course in Design at the Iceland University of the Arts is based around experimental workshops, where topics of the imagination and compelling contemporary projects provide the impetus. The work focuses on Iceland’s distinctive features in order to comprehend the external world and the disparate connections between regional and international issues. The subject matter of the course centres around the realities that face us today, options previously unknown, and possibilities for the future.

BA Architecture
On the Architecture course, students will tackle a variety of projects relating both to the environment and to the community. There is a particular emphasis on studying buildings in the light of their atmosphere and feel, and on analysing the diverse context of which each and every building is a part. Students will tackle projects in the field of urban planning and city studies, and they will also investigate how architecture affects nature and society. Students’ projects will be shaped by both the Icelandic environment and international cooperation.

The lectures are open to everyone; professionals, students and others interested in design and architecture are encouraged to attend.
These lunchtime lectures will take place in Lecture Hall A in the Iceland University of the Arts premises at Þverholt 11.
