On Friday the 12th of April at 1PM an open lecture by Steinunn Gunnlaugsdóttir will be held at the Iceland University of the Arts, Laugarnesvegur 91.

In the lecture, Steinunn will talk about a few of her works and discuss the idea of the artist, participation in protests and activism and the subconscious as a tool for creation. In the realm of playfull seriousness she deals with the many ideological and moral systems that human beings create, are born into, live in and fight against.

Steinunn Gunnlaugsdóttir was born in Iceland in 1983. She graduation from the Department of Fine Art at Iceland University of the Arts in 2008 and participated in an open art education at the cultural institution Ashkal Alwan in Beirut, Lebanon in the winter of 2013-2014. She works across mediums and makes sculptures, videos, sound works, drawings, performances and installation.

Open lectures in Laugarnes will take place in the fall of 2018, hosted by Departments of Art Education, Fine Art and Performing Arts
