Pianist: Richard Simm

Born in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, violinist Nicola Lolli made his début as a soloist at the Teatro Chiabrera, Savona at the age of eleven. He studied with Alfred Staar in Vienna along with Gerhard Schulz, Shmuel Ashkenasi and Eszter Haffner. Nicola has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the National Taiwan Normal University Symphony Orchestra, the Salieri Orchestra and the Orchestra dell’Università di Pisa. He is the winner of numerous competitions, including the Italian National competition in Vittorio Veneto in 1993 and 1997.

Nicola held a temporary position at the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and toured extensively with the orchestra, playing in the most prestigious venues and under conductors Zubin Mehta, Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Christian Thielemann, just to name a few. Nicola held the position of assistant concertmaster of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and from September of 2012 he has been the concertmaster of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
