George Fisher – Transatlantic Variations

George Fisher, pianist and music theorist, has given first performances of works by Seymour Shifrin, Sheila Silver, David Lewin, John Lessard, and Robert Cuckson, among others, and has recorded for C.R.I. and OPUS ONE.  His main piano teachers were Victor Rosenbaum and Robert Helps.  He holds a bachelors degree in music from Brandeis University, masters degrees in music theory and in music composition from Stony Brook University, and Ph.D in music theory from Columbia University.  Fisher has taught at Bates College, Stony Brook University, Adelphi University, New York University, and the Mannes School of Music. Since retiring as Associate Dean at Mannes in fall of 2013, he has continued there as a part-time member of the faculty.  He has also devoted more time to piano, appearing in concerts at Mannes, Stony Brook, in Lakeside, Michigan, and in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
