Composers Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphéðinsdóttir and Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir will talk about, and perform their music on Friday, January 25th 2019. Singer Ingibjörg Fríða Helgadóttir will join them in a performance of music by Ingibjörg Ýr.

Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir talks about four new compositions that will be premiered at a concert on February 2nd at 3:30 pm in Reykjavík Art Museum. Music for bass flute, piano, the instrument Lokkur and the sound sculpture Lurking Creature will be performed by Lilja Maria, Berglind María Tómasdóttir and dancer Inês Zinho Pinheiro.
Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphedinsdóttir talks about her orchestra piece, O, premiered by Iceland Symphony Orchestra on Friday, February 1st. Ingibjörg will also present the project "The woman in the mirror", based on poems by Icelandic poet Ingibjörg Haraldsdóttir, composed for singer Ingibjörg Fríða Helgadóttir who will join Ingibjörg Ýr in a performance on Friday, January 25th.
Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphéðinsdóttir studied composition at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and graduated with a BA in 2016. Her teachers were Hróðmar I. Sigurbjörnsson and Anna Þorvaldsdóttir. In the following winter she did an internship with Anna Þorvaldsdóttir in the UK.
Ingibjörg Ýr has worked with various stage artists, dancers, chamber groups and filmmakers. She has received support from RÚV’s Tónskáldasjóður and The Icelandic Centre for Research’s Music Recording Fund.
Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir is an artist, composer and pianist from Iceland. For the past year she has been studying masters in composition at City, University of London with Claudia Molitor. In her works she likes to explore the connections between different art forms, mainly visual arts and music. Her pieces have for example been performed at the concert series Hljóðön in Iceland and at the Dark Music Days Festival in Reykjavík.
