Our relationship with soil is unsustainable. Our throwaway society does not appreciate the value of soul even though it is the very foundation of life. Next Soil is a metabolic cycle that produces a compost tea from waste material from the Icelandic food industry. This liquid was named Elixir, which was originally a mythical potion granting eternal life, capable of turning baser materials into gold. The name highlights the importance of redesigning our food system to restore the soil from which all things grow, and reducing the use of chemical fertilisers. By seeing the value in waste and crafting these precious materials, Next Soil hopes to give our soil its eminence.
