„I swear it’s true! My aunt’s friend’s brother told me this and I trust him.“ Urban legends are stories that have wandered by word of mouth from person to person over a long period of time. They usually have a beginning, a middle and an end – always a little hint of exaggeration or a heap of lies. Did someone really put a cat into the microwave, and can a seagull fly away with a puppy? Does it matter that these stories are true or not? Why has everyone heard an urban legend? Fifty years from now we will still be hearing similar stories.
