Polar display
Polar display is an experimental variable color typeface. Its design emerged out of an exploration of how blurred focus affects the perception of text, and a fascination with the boundary between letterforms and abstraction.
The result is a modular upper-case typeface drawn using only horizontal color gradients. It is built using COLRv1 technology which allows the integration of color gradients into variable fonts. Polar has one variable weight axis which blurs each letter into barely readable graphic forms.
The horizontal gradients mirror each other, like equal but opposite magnetic poles. Polar is intended for display use and is available in several customizable color palettes.
