BUILD, MAINTAIN, REPAIR
Svend Holmboe Pedersen

BUILD, MAINTAIN, REPAIR is an art Installation and part of my BA fine arts education. The art piece touches on topics such as machine maintenance, preservation of technical knowledge and the excitement of building.

The general technical understanding and skill of the mechanical trade is at risk of going extinct.

By way of preservation, one must heed the expertise of the generation before us.

The skill and experience they have acquired is from a time where there was more emphasis on quality and durability.

Now, the replacement of broken things has perceptibly become more important than maintaining or repairing them.

The space is storing and protecting constructed and procured objects with mechanical properties.
It’s for creating mechanical objects, to lean through personal experience and maintain knowledge about machines.

The exhibition "BUILD, MAINTAIN, REPAIR" opens on Thursday, 27th of October in The Cube on 2nd floor at 17:00 - 19:00 at Laugarnesvegur 91. Each Thursday a solo exhibition will be opened at three different locations in Laugarnes as a part of the BA Fine arts program.

I work with lost and found objects and use them to build mechanical sculptures. I am fascinated with air sirens and the team “Handyman”.
