If sex is not a positive experience, is it sex?

“It instigated fear and shame to be curious about sex. The shame around talking about sex has followed me since my childhood. It’s uncomfortable for me to talk about sex.”
(Person from Reykjavík, born 1998).

Having a distorted perception of sex is common and talking about sex has long been a taboo. It is common for people to see sex in porn and films, but the sex  portrayed in those films is usually very different from sex in reality. The discussion around sex should first and foremost focus on consent and trust. Being more aware of these factors can help people better explore what satisfies them and what sexual desires they may have.
