Berglind María Tómasdóttir appointed Dean of the Faculty of Music at the University of Iceland

Berglind María Tómasdóttir has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Music. She will take office on August 1st.

Berglind María holds a doctorate in contemporary music performance from the University of California, San Diego, a diploma in flute playing from the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, Copenhagen, as well as a leaving examination and wind instrument teacher's certificate from the Reykjavík College of Music.

Berglind is a leading artist in the forefront of the national scene and active internationally. She has solid knowledge in her field of expertise, which is the performance, creation and communication of contemporary music, and extensive experience in academic work. She completed her doctorate in 2013 and has since taught at the Department of Music at the University of the Arts. She has held the position of professor at the Department of Music since 2020, having previously been an associate professor in the performance and communication of contemporary music since 2016. She was then, from 2014, an adjunct professor and subject director and worked as an assistant professor at the University of California, San Diego from 2010 to 2013.
