The University of the Arts' strategic cooperation with foreign partner universities contributes to the development of studies, teaching and research in an international dialogue. The school emphasizes close cooperation in a wide range of disciplines with specific universities. This includes participation in projects on the development of learning and teaching, international research projects, dialogue on quality issues and improved administration, guest teaching and diverse ways of student exchange.

Project title: Plastic Justice: a new dimension in art and design education
Project Manager: Iceland University of the Arts
Strength: €197.644 for 24 months
The aim of the project is to investigate how graphic design and visual communication methods can shed light on the seriousness of pollution due to microplastics in the environment. The project brings together teachers, experts, activists and policy makers with the aim of creating teaching materials and methods, dialogues and design materials that increase students' environmental awareness and knowledge of the long-term health effects and risks associated with the microplastic problem.

Project title: Pedagogy of Imaginative Dialogues (PIMDI)
Project Manager: Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen
Strength: €334.391 for 36 months
The idea has its roots in the fact that, along with increased democratization in Europe, extremist movements have grown up with xenophobia and ideas of a return to oppressive dictatorship and guardianship in morality. In the project, work will be done to develop methods for studying art that are based on dialogue and the connection of different opinions. Master's students in art education together with teachers from the universities will travel between the countries and work with different partners in each place individually and these methods will be practiced and developed. Partners in Iceland are the Polytechnic School in Breiðholt, Borgarbókasafn and Gerðuberg. The outcome of the project will be in the form of academic subjects and teaching materials as well as new courses in teacher education.

Project title: Alexandria Nova
Project Manager: Ernst Busch Berlin Academy of Dramatic Arts
Strength: €330.248 for 36 months
The project is intended to draw attention to and develop teaching methods used in the study of directing. This will be done in a conversation between teachers and students during courses, seminars and meetings. Experience, exercises, ideas and methods will be collected and shared through a new website, a collection of articles and a book.

Project title: Art creation and collaboration: Ways to activity and well-being (e. Social Inclusion and Well-being through the Arts and Interdisciplinary Practices – SWIPE)
Project Manager: Iceland University of the Arts
Strength: €204.855 for 24 months
The project is about developing study materials and curriculum for a new study line at the master's level at the Art Education Department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts in collaboration with universities in Europe. The program is designed for artists who are interested in strengthening the social participation, activity and well-being of individuals in their work. Work will be done to explore the potential of different art forms to connect individuals, promote activity and well-being, and strengthen the self-confidence of those who are at risk of being marginalized.

Project title: Beyond Art Disciplines

The goal of the project is to make use of a purposeful interdisciplinary and multinational conversation for the development of teaching methods where the core is cooperation and creativity. Students, teachers, university staff and artists together form a learning community where new knowledge and understanding is created in an active interdisciplinary conversation. An interdisciplinary course in the arts and study material will be developed to support it.
