Rannsóknarstofa í tónlist (RíT) í samstarfi við tónleikaröðina Hljóðön í Hafnarborg efnir til málstofu og vinnustofu um Wandelweiser hópinn. Wandelweiser er bæði útgáfufyrirtæki og alþjóðlegur samvinnuhópur tónskálda/flytjenda sem hefur starfað í rúma tvo áratugi. Wandelweiser-hópurinn hefur verið kenndur við naumhyggju og tilraunakennda tónlist sem tekur þögn í Cage-ískum skilningi sem upphafspunkt í sinni viðleitni til tónsköpunar. Meðlimir hópsins kanna því oft nýjar leiðir hlustunar þar sem unnið er gagngert með upplifun og skynjun hljóðs, þagnar og tíma.
Litið verður yfir sögu og einkenni nokkra tónskálda innan hópsins ásamt því að velta upp sjónarhornum og hlutverki flytjandans. Einn meðlimur hópsins, Stefan Thut, er gestur málstofunnar og mun kynna sína tónlistarlegu nálgun og afstöðu innan Wandelweiser-hópsins.
Málstofan leiðir svo yfir í vinnustofu þar sem unnið verður að verkum sem flutt verða á Hljóðanar-tónleikum í Hafnarborg sunnudaginn 23. apríl kl. 20:00.

CRiM-Symposium and Workshop: Music of the Wandelweiser
Centre for Research in Music (CRiM, Iceland Academy of the Arts) in collaboration with the concert series Hljóðön organises a symposium and workshop on the music of the Wandelweiser Group. Wandelweiser is both a publishing company and an international collective of composers/performers. The group has been associated with minimalism and experimental music, taking John Cage‘s silent piece 4‘33‘‘ as their starting point. Wandelweiser members therefore explore new ways of listening where the experience of sound, silence and time are investigated.
We will explore the history and characteristics of the music by members of the Wandelweiser group and explore the performer‘s perspectives and roles. A member of the Wandelweiser, Stephan Thut, is a special guest on the symposium and will introduce his approach to composition and his place within the collective.
The symposium concludes with a workshop under the guidance of Stephan Thut and the symposium‘s participants, where works will be dicussed, rehearsed and finally performed on Hljóðön concert series on Sunday 23 April in Hafnarborg.
