Miðvikudaginn 23. nóvember klukkan 12:15 heldur Theodóra Alfreðsdóttir fyrirlesturinn „The making of an Object“ í fyrirlestraröð hönnunar- og arkitektúrdeildar Listaháskóla Íslands, GESTAGANGI. Fyrirlesturinn fer fram í fyrirlestrasal A í Þverholti 11.

On Wednesday November 23rd at 12:15 Theodóra Alfreðsdóttir gives a lecture on “The making of an Object” as part of GESTAGANGUR, lecture series by The Department of Design and Architecture at Iceland Academy of the Arts. The lecture takes place in lecture room A at Þverholt 11.

Theodóra is an Icelandic multidisciplinary product designer based in London. She holds a bachelor’s degree in product design from the Iceland Academy of the Arts and a master’s degree in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London in 2015, where she studied under the guidance of Max Lamb and Harry Richardson as well as Gabriel Klasmer and Stuart Bannocks.

Theodóra’s work revolves around the narrative an object can inhabit and exploring ways of objectifying that narrative. She’s interested in the way an object can act as documentation of it’s manufacturing process; a record of what went on between the machine, tools, craftsman and material as well as it can communicate its origin and former life. Resulting in discovery of unexpected qualities as well as simultaneously giving the user a subtle opportunity to reconsider our material world and explore value in a different way.

In her lecture, Theodóra will talk about her own work, having regard to the ideology of others.

THE LECTURE IS IN ENGLISH AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
