Registration and tuition fees

From fall 2024 tuition fees will be abolished but an annual registration fee will be ISK 75.000,-

Tuition fees 2023 - 2024

Amount per semester:  
Bachelor’s degree programmes 367.909,- ISK.  
Master’s degree programmes in Arts Education, Instrumental/Vocal Education, and New Audience and Innovative Practice (NAIP) 446.851,- ISK.   
Master’s degree programmes Architecture, Design, Fine Art, Curatorial Practice, Composition and Performing Arts: 568.878,- ISK.  

Registration fee  
A payment of 75.000,- ISK registration fee in the Application Portal is a requirement for admission. The amount will apply toward the tuition fee.   
  

Payment information for the tuition fee  

The tuition fee is paid in two parts with due dates in August and in February. Students will receive payment slips in their online bank.  
If the tuition fee has not been paid within twenty days after the due date, access to the University's premises will be closed and their access code made inactive.  
  

Autumn-, January- or spring graduation  

Students who postpone graduation due to an unfinished final essay or a final project until next semester, pay 37.500,- ISK for every semester delivery is postponed.   

 
Study break  

Students on study break pay 25.000,- ISK per semester.  
  

Part-time studies
If students wish to take fewer credits than 20 ECTS a year, they can pay for each completed credit.  
Bachelor’s degree programmes: 18.396,- ISK per credit.

Master’s degree programmes in Design, Fine Art, Curatorial Practice, Composition and Performing Arts: 28.444,- ISK per credit. 

Master’s degree programmes in Arts Education, Instrumental/Vocal Education and New Audience and Innovative Practice (NAIP): 22.343,- ISK per credit.

Other  

Students will have to account for purchases of books and materials. Printing costs will also have to be considered.  
Students are informed that amount of tuition fees can rise between years. 
Sigurlaug Sæmundsdóttir, silla [at] lhi.is (), is in charge of collection of tuition and student union fees.  
The school board determines the amount of tuition fees and payment arrangements. The amount of the tuition fee is subject to change but in principle it follows the consumer price index.  
Only students that have paid the tuition fee are considered registered students and only they have access to the schools premises.  
It is mandatory to pay the tuition fee to get transferred between semesters.  
Registration changes with regard to the tuition fee are not permitted after 1st of October in autumn semester and 15th of February in spring semester.
