The Department of Fine Art offers a three-year, 180 ECTS, programme leading to a BA degree and two year, 120 ECTS programme, leading to MA degree. Its main focus is on facilitating original thought processes and developing different methods for realizing ideas. In the programme, students work with ideas, processing them, presentation and critique. Cooperation with working artists, organizations and companies is actively sought with regard to instruction and involvement in specialized projects.

The role of the Department of Fine Art is to be a leading force in fine arts instruction at the university level and an open venue for research and debate. Students and instructors are expected to take an active part in cultural life and to maintain vibrant ties with the artistic community.

The study programme places emphasis on the development of independent work habits, strengthening the students’ knowledge and appreciation of art and preparing them for their role and position as artists in society.

The Department of Fine Art offers a three-year 180 ECTS programme leading to a BA degree. It is a diverse program of study in Fine art with focus on both theory and the practical skills necessary for the role and position as artists in society. The programme concludes with BA project, which includes a thesis, a project portfolio and a final work, which will be exhibited at a graduation exhibition. Its main focus is on facilitating original thought processes and developing different methods for realizing ideas. In the programme, students work with ideas, processing them, presentation and critique. The emphases are on creative thought, independent work habits and suitable methods of expression. Students work on developing, critiquing, and presenting their ideas and can choose from a number of elective courses, which allow for specialization in a particular area. Cooperation with working artists, organisations and companies is actively sought with regard to instruction and involvement in specialized projects.
The programme consists of courses in art creation (132 ECTS) and theoretical subjects (48 ECTS) and place emphasis on the development of independent work habits and strengthening the student’s knowledge and awareness of their development as artists.
All students are delegated a professor who serves as their educational advisor and monitors their educational progress. A lector in art theory supervises the theoretical part of the programme.

The goals of the Fine Art Department are to provide opportunities for students to increase their knowledge and appreciation of art, create an environment where they can develop as artists, and teach them the techniques and work habits necessary for successful careers or further studies.
