Ljóðasmiðja, er kennsluáfangi á þriðja þrepi fyrir framhaldsskóla. Þetta er meistaraverkefni til 10 eininga.

Áfanginn byggir á kenningum Boal, Freire, Dewey, Goleman o.fl. fræðimanna auk þess byggir áfanginn á Aðalnámskrá framhaldsskóla frá 2011.

Inntak áfangans er ljóðalestur, ljóðagerð og tjáning. Mikil áhersla verður á tilfinningar og unnið út frá kenningum Golemans um tilfinningagreind og tilfinningalæsi. Hver vika verður helguð ákveðinni tilfinningu. Nemendur lesa ljóð eftir önnur skáld, þar sem fjallað er um þessa tilfinningu, síðan semja nemendur sjálfir ljóð um sömu tilfinningu og kemur fram í því ljóði sem þeir lásu og flytja svo bæði ljóðin. Gert er ráð fyrir að nemendur flytji 10 ljóð eftir önnur skáld og semji sjálfir önnur 10. Nemendur læra undirstöðuatriði tjáningar s.s. rétta líkamsstöðu, öndun o.fl.

Áfanginn heitir Ljóðasmiðja, eins og nafnið ber með sér verður þetta vinnustofa í anda Boal. Nemendur og kennari vinna saman að sköpun á jafnréttisgrundvelli eins og Freire boðar í sínum skrifum. Þetta verður símatsáfangi og einkunn gefin í formi umsagnar sem nemendur og kennari semja í sameiningu.

Poetry Workshop, a course on creativity, expression and literacy is designed to be a third level secondary school course. This is a master´s thesis submitted for ten credits.

The course is based on the theories of Boal, Freire, Dewey, Goleman and others, and is based on the Icelandic National Curriculum for Secondary Schools from 2011.

The course subject is poetry reading, writing and recital. Emphasis will be placed on using poetry to work with emotions. This part of the course is based on Goleman´s theories on emotional literacy. Each week will be dedicated to a specific emotion. Students will read poems by other poets that express this emotion, after which students will themselves write a poet on the same emotion and then recite both poems. It is expected that students will recite ten poems by other poets in addition to the ten poems they composed themselves. Students will learn the basics of dramatic expression, such as the correct posture, breathing etc.

Poetry Workshop will be a workshop in the spirit of Augusto Boal. Students and teachers will collaborate creatively on equal terms following Paulo Freire´s theories on equality in education. The course will use continuous assessment and the final grade will be in the form of a report written jointly by the student and the teacher.
