Symposium on Animated Notation
Centre for Research in Music (CRiM - Iceland Academy of the Arts) in collaboration with Dark Music Days organises a symposium on animated music notation. The symposium takes place on Friday January 27 at 13:30 in Harpa (Vísa).
Animated notation (or active notation) is a relatively recent form of music notation that employs video or any kind of motion on screen as a score. This field has been actively explored in Iceland for more than a decade. This symposium looks into this local history and aims to place it in a greater international context as well as speculate about its possible futures. Different approaches and methods will be discussed from a compositional and performative perspective through a panel of experts. Participants are:
Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir, composer
Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson, composer
Jesper Pedersen, composer
Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir, pianist
Þráinn Hjálmarsson, composer
Chair: Einar Torfi Einarsson (IAA)
