The MA Degree Show in Design and Fine Art at the Iceland Academy of the Arts will open at Gerðarsafn Saturday 6. May at 2 p.m.

The international Master's Programmes in Fine art and in Design were established at the IAA in 2012 and is this the fourth MA Degree Show exhibited in Gerðarsafn. The exhibition presents the outcome of the two year programme where five designers and five artists have been given the chance to develop and reinforce their research in the respective field under the guidance and supervision of leading designers and artists. The role of creative and critical thinking is emphasised in creating innovative projects in both design and fine art in Iceland.

The MA Programme in Fine Art is a venue to deepen and expand students' knowledge in the field of contemporary fine art, to strengthen their personal vision as well as relating their own practice to the theoretical foundations of the profession. The MA Programme in Design is focused on urgent contemporary matters and students are encouraged to employ their imagination, intuition and critical thinking in order to positively impact society and the social changes we face.
