On Friday March 17th at 12:15 Gudmundur Ludvik gives a lecture as part of GESTAGANGUR, a lecture series by the Department of Design and Architecture at Iceland Academy of the Arts. The lecture takes place in lecture room A at þverholt 11.

Gudmundur Ludvik runs his own studio, based in Vejle and is partner in Design company Welling/Ludvik industrial design in Copenhagen. In his lecture, Gudmundur Ludvik will talk about his education, career and projects. Gudmundur’s background combines craftsmanship as well as art and design. His roots are planted deep in the Scandinavian tradition of craftsmanship. Gudmundur grew up with it and worked as a carpenter and cabinetmaker for several years before studying sculpture at the Icelandic Academy of Arts. He moved to Copenhagen in 1999 and completed his formal education as a furniture designer at the Danish Design School in 2002. This has been a natural and logical way for him, and has developed his skills in working creatively, combining technical and aesthetic aspects of design. Gudmundur Ludvik Gretarsson is born in 1970 in Reykjavik, Iceland and now lives in Denmark.

The lecture will be in English and open to the public.
